How Do I Include Shipping Costs in My Insured Shipment?

ShipTime allows you to include eligible shipping charges as part of the insured value of your shipment.

When this option is enabled, an approved claim may include both the insured value of the goods and eligible shipping costs, subject to the applicable ShipTime Insurance terms and coverage limits.

How do I include shipping costs in my insurance value?

You can manage this option from your ShipTime account preferences.

  1. Log in to your ShipTime account.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Select Preferences & Defaults.

  4. Under the Shipment section, find Include shipment cost in insurance value?
      
  5. Select the checkbox to enable the option.
  6. Click Save.

What happens when this option is enabled?

When shipping-cost coverage is enabled, the applicable shipping charge is included when calculating the insured value of eligible shipments.

If an eligible claim is approved, the claim may include:

  • the covered value of the goods
  • eligible shipping costs included in the insured value

Coverage remains subject to the applicable ShipTime Insurance terms, exclusions, and maximum limits.

Can I turn this setting off?

Yes. You can return to Settings > Preferences & Defaults and disable the option if you no longer want shipping costs automatically included in the insured value.

Review your insurance selection when creating a shipment to make sure the coverage amount reflects what you intend to insure.

Why include shipping costs?

Including eligible shipping costs in the insured value can help provide broader protection if a covered shipment is lost or damaged.

Rather than treating the shipping charge separately, the eligible cost can be included as part of the insured amount when the option is enabled.
