How Do I Set Up Real-Time Rates for an Existing Shopify Store?
If your Shopify store is already connected to ShipTime, you can enable real-time rates from your integration settings.
For Shopify, product weights can sync from your store, but Shopify does not provide the other package dimensions ShipTime needs for accurate rate calculations. Length, width, and height must therefore be added in ShipTime.
Before you enable real-time rates
Your Shopify plan must support third-party carrier-calculated shipping to display ShipTime rates at checkout.
Shopify plan features and requirements can change, so confirm that your current plan supports third-party carrier-calculated shipping before enabling real-time rates.
Enable real-time rates in ShipTime
- Log in to your ShipTime account.
- Go to Integrations > My Integrations.

- Find your Shopify store and select Manage Store.

- Select Enable Rates.

- Enter your default package dimensions.
These dimensions serve as a fallback when you haven't entered product dimensions in ShipTime. Because a single default size may not accurately represent every product, adding individual product dimensions is recommended for more precise checkout rates. - Review and select your other rate preferences as needed.
- Select Enable Rates.

Once enabled, you should see a confirmation message indicating that live rates were enabled successfully.
Add product weights in Shopify
Make sure each product in Shopify has an accurate weight.
Product weights are synced from Shopify to ShipTime and are used when calculating real-time shipping rates.
Add product dimensions in ShipTime
Shopify does not provide length, width, and height for products through the integration. These dimensions must be entered in ShipTime.
- In ShipTime, go to Settings > Products.
- Find the product you want to update.
- Enter the product’s:
- Length
- Width
- Height
- Save your changes.
- Repeat for each product in your Product Library.

Once entered, the dimensions are stored in ShipTime and can be used along with the Shopify product weight to calculate real-time rates.
Why product dimensions matter
Accurate product dimensions help ShipTime calculate more precise shipping rates at checkout.
If dimensions are missing, ShipTime may use the default dimensions saved in your integration settings, which may not accurately represent the products in the order.
Test your checkout rates
After enabling Real-Time Rates, place a test order in your Ecwid store to confirm that shipping options appear at checkout.
If rates do not display, check that:
- Real-Time Rates are enabled for the integration.
- Product weights and dimensions are available.
- Your default dimensions are entered.
- The destination can be serviced by the available carriers.
