How Does 3D Secure Authentication Work in ShipTime?

ShipTime supports 3D Secure (3DS) authentication for credit card payments. Depending on your card and card issuer, you may be asked to complete an additional verification step before a payment can be approved.

What happens when 3D Secure is required?

When you reach Finalize & Pay:

  1. A secure authentication window may appear if your credit card requires 3D Secure.
  2. You may be asked to enter a verification code provided by your card issuer.
  3. Enter the requested code or information to complete the authentication.
  4. Once verification is successfully completed, you can continue with the payment.

The verification may be sent using the contact information registered with your card provider, such as:

  • mobile phone
  • landline
  • email

The available verification method is determined by your card issuer.

Who controls my 3D Secure contact information?

Your bank or credit card provider manages the contact information used for 3D Secure authentication.

ShipTime does not control or update the phone number, email address, or other contact information used by your card issuer for this verification.

What if I do not receive the verification code?

If the code is being sent to an incorrect or outdated phone number or email address, the authentication may not be completed and the payment may fail.

Contact your bank or card provider to confirm or update the contact information associated with your card.

Once the information has been corrected, you can return to ShipTime and try the payment again.

Is 3D Secure the same as ShipTime’s two-factor authentication?

No.

ShipTime may use two-factor authentication (2FA) when you add a credit card to your account for the first time.

3D Secure, however, is an additional payment-authentication process managed by your card issuer and may appear when you attempt to complete a transaction.

For instructions on adding or managing a payment card, see How to Manage Payment Methods in ShipTime.

What if the payment still fails after authentication?

If you successfully complete the 3D Secure verification but the payment is still not approved, contact your card issuer first to confirm that the transaction is being authorized.

If the card issuer confirms there is no issue on their side and you are still unable to complete the payment in ShipTime, contact our Heroic Support™ team and we can help review the transaction.
